Hotel Can Ferrereta
Having long been a fan of Sant Francesc in Palma, I was very much looking forward to staying at its sister hotel in Santanyi, Can Ferrereta.
Can Ferrereta
Can Ferrereta sits proudly in the centre of Santanyi in the south east corner of Mallorca, blending in easily with its surroundings. As soon as you walk through the door of this luxury boutique hotel, the stresses and strains of everyday life melt away. With a no children (under 14 years old) policy, this is a peaceful retreat where relaxation comes as standard. The restoration of the 17th century mansion is exquisite and the attention to detail is second to none. The neutral decoration just adds to the calming atmosphere of this impressive property.
Welcomed with a smile and a glass of cava, after a no nonsense check in it was off to the room where our bags awaited. We stayed in a deluxe room (there are 32 rooms and suites) which provided ample space, again decorated in neutral shades with beamed ceiling and had all the usual luxury amenities expected of a hotel of this standard including coffee machine, minibar and robes. The luxurious feel continued into the bathroom which although small had an excellent walk in shower and full size Heeley toiletries.
The public areas of this hotel really are beautiful and artwork abounds. The pool area with its sculpture and large pool flanked by the pool restaurant is a sight to behold, particularly at night with subtle lighting and one which really is very hard to leave especially when the Mallorcan sun is shining. Comfortable sunbeds, towels and pool service are all welcome additions.
The food here is also sublime. Unfortunately I didn’t get to eat at the main restaurant, Ocre, but both breakfast, taken out in the courtyard and lunch at La Fresca (pool restaurant) were delicious. The hotel have compiled a guide to restaurants and things to do in the area which can be found at reception, a pity they didn’t put one in each room. The staff are also happy to book restaurants or activities in the area. Another plus in my book is the fact that you can just walk out to eat or visit the local market.
The small spa is lovely and as we had a late flight on return home we were able to use the changing rooms before departure.
I can highly recommend Can Ferrereta. I would return in a heartbeat, always a good sign that I have genuinely loved a hotel. Everything about it exudes quality, from the beautiful design to the lovely staff. Nothing is too much trouble and it really is a difficult place to leave.
