Spring Escapes
Another Easter is upon us. This year I’m spending it celebrating my mum’s special birthday at Rudding Park in Yorkshire. It made me think about where I had spent Easter over the last few years and thought I’d share the various destinations and hotels that left lasting memories.
Spring Escapes
Mallorca
In my opinion Mallorca is a good idea at any time of year. The weather is not guaranteed at Easter but when the sun shines it really is not to be missed. With temperatures around 20 degrees it’s perfect weather for hiking and cycling. Palma is a great place to stay at this time of year but can also be combined with a country or coastal destination. A good hotel combo is Sant Francesc in Palma and Can Ferrerata in Santanyi, sister hotels which come highly recommended. Concepcio by Nobis, Portixol Hotel and Es Princep are all great places to stay in Palma.
Maldives
A dreamy destination at Easter, this island paradise is the perfect antidote to the stresses and strains of everyday life. Stunning weather, delicious food and luxury accommodation make for a fantastic relaxing holiday at this time of year. I stayed at Amilla Fushi (now called Amilla) and had the most beautiful villa over the water. The only place I’ve ever stayed with a tea as well as a coffee machine (I do like my tea!) With a glorious spa and delightful staff it really is the stuff of dreams.
Ireland
So, you don’t go to Ireland for the weather but if you’re lucky you might just see some spring sunshine and a rainbow or two. The craic is always good and it really is a great place for unwinding and enjoying the space, beauty and charm of the different landscapes from coast to country. I love Cashel Palace in Tipperary, a beautifully restored palace with gorgeous interiors and great food to match.
Miami
I have to be honest Miami wasn’t for me. I think maybe my mental images of South Beach just didn’t match up to the reality. However the COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach felt like a calm oasis in the middle of the frenetic buzz. I still remember the scent as you walked into the lobby and feeling myself relax as I hadn’t been a fan of the first hotel we had stayed at. I particularly liked the pool area here and the Easter weather although a little hit and miss was warm enough for a pool day when the sun was shining.
Vail
I have a huge soft spot for skiing in Vail, Colorado. We have spent many a family holiday pounding the slopes of this legendary resort. Easter skiing is warmer but the snow usually holds up until late in the afternoon. Coming off the slopes a little earlier is not such a bad thing, the atmosphere is always good in the village particularly outside at Lionshead when the sun is shining. Four Seasons Vail is the perfect place to stay with it’s huge swimming pool, spacious spa and excellent service.
Most def not a millennial. Too old to drink s*** wine. Penchant for luxury travel. Sharing my fav things in life; past, present and future.
