Cap Rocat

It is impossible to be unimpressed by Cap Rocat. An ancient fortress on the sea with beautiful views across the Bay of Palma, this stunning 29 room hotel feels a world away from reality. Yet only 10 minutes from the airport, it is well placed for a weekend break or to explore the island.

A slick check in process removes any need for standing behind a desk, this is more like signing in with a cup of tea in hand. Hot towels are handed out and off into a buggy for a tour of this magnificent property. Our suite was spacious with a four poster bed and plenty of room to relax, the bathroom housed a freestanding bath and separate shower. The outside space is the real wow factor with not one but three terraces. A private space with dining facilities, sunbeds and a daybed overlooking the sea.

Breakfast can be taken at any time either in the main restaurant or in your own suite which adds an air of exclusivity. Arriving by buggy, beautifully presented in wicker baskets and laid out, this is a feast for the senses. There are two dining options, the more formal La Fortaleza and the informal Sea Club, one of my favourite restaurants on the island. Facilities available include pool (with call button for pool service menu), tennis court, bikes and a spa has been added since my stay. Service was mostly excellent. Cap Rocat aims to generate zero plastic waste and is committed to the future of the planet, taking its sustainability initiatives seriously.

The property is even more magical at night and is the perfect place for celebrating a special occasion.
