Angama Mara

Angama Mara is a very special lodge and has a unique sense of place surrounded by stunning views of the Mara Triangle.

Angama Mara

It is no surprise that Sydney Pollock’s team found the perfect location for the film Out of Africa on the very site where Angama Mara now lies. The Maasai culture pervades throughout and the staff are outstanding, anticipating your every need.

Angama consists of two separate camps with just 15 tented suites each designed by award winning architects, Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens. Both North and South Camp each have their own guest area with the pavilion in the middle, housing a swimming pool, fitness room and safari shop. With direct access to the Mara triangle, this is wildlife viewing at its very best. Angama requests that each of its guests contributes a nominal nightly donation to the Angama Foundation, and these micro-donations enable the Foundation to make a significant difference in the fields of education, healthcare and conservation to those around them.

I had a tear in my eye leaving this exceptional lodge and it will remain in my heart forever. Asante Angama.

*Note: For Steve Fitzgerald it was a long held dream to build a lodge on this particular piece of land. Sadly he passed away in October 2017 but his wife Nicky and the team ensure that his legacy lives on. I know he would be very proud of what they have achieved.
