Welcome back Southern Ocean Lodge

Welcome back Southern Ocean Lodge

Southern Ocean Lodge is once more commanding views of the Southern Ocean from the wildly beautiful clifftops of Kangaroo Island.

Baillie Lodges flagship property, Southern Ocean Lodge, was a victim of the Kangaroo Island bushfires in the summer of 2019-20. Company founders James and Hayley embarked on an ambitious rebuild and the new look lodge, dubbed ‘SOL 2.0’ is now open for visitors. The new-look luxury lodge bears a similar footprint to its award-winning original complete with the magnificent Great Room and its striking views. The twenty-five luxurious suites and an ultra-premium Ocean Pavilion offer guests every comfort as well as those incredible ocean views. The Southern Spa has a new location, allowing space for three treatment rooms, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, a sauna and temperature-controlled hot and cold plunge pools. Environmental sustainability is core to the lodge’s new design while a commitment to using exclusively local produce is a veritable boon to the regional economy offering guests a genuine sense of place.

In the words of Founder James Baillie, “We’re looking forward to putting this period behind us, and to wow guests once again with the wild beauty of KI. We hope SOL 2.0 will be a symbol of resilience and optimism for the future of Australian tourism”.
