Six Senses Shaharut Opens August 5 2021

Located in the Arava Valley in the south of the Negev Desert, Six Senses Shaharut is an intimate resort comprising just 60 suites and villas, offering guests an authentic desert adventure with uplifting experiences at every turn. From sunrise yoga workshops and immersive local community experiences to late-night stargazing sessions, incredible hikes and camel treks through the luminous Negev Desert, the aim is to leave enriched and reconnected.

A modern reinterpretation of nomadic structures, reminiscent of the Nabataean community which occupied the area over 2000 years ago, the resort’s design preserves the unique characteristics of the site. Inside, the furniture and fittings have been sourced from local artisans to complement the unique weathered rock formations, utilising natural stone, wood, and copper. The interior doors are custom made from reclaimed teak, which was rescued from disused boats, houses, and footbridges. Over two-hundred years old, each piece has its own story to tell.

There are many on-site experiences including the fascinating Earth Lab, where the property showcases its sustainability initiatives to reduce consumption, produce locally and support communities and ecosystems, all in line with the Six Senses environmental commitment. The desert setting presents a host of activities from overnight camel camping to extreme sports, hiking, jeep safaris, and neighbouring Kibbutz tour. Locally-inspired and restorative treatments together with a variety of wellness programs will be on offer at Six Senses Spa which draws its inspiration from the majestic landscape in which it is situated.

The journey to Shaharut is part of the story as guests travel through the timeless landscape steeped in history. A comfortable transfer can be arranged to the resort, with the drive from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem taking around three-and-a-half hours, or three hours from Petra in neighbouring Jordan. Alternatively, guests can opt for a 50-minute domestic flight from Tel Aviv to the new Ramon International Airport (ETM) near Eliat, which also directly serves key European markets. From there, it is a 45-minute transfer to the resort.
